Confused about the 10 day inspection period with escrow

Recommended Posts

So I'm looking at a sedan thru AJ Brokers and the seller keeps mentioning the 10 day inspection thing but honestly I dont get how it works exactly.. like do I have 10 days to inspect after I pay or before? and what if I find something wrong, do they just refund me immediately or is there some process? anyone used this before

its after delivery man. you pay, car ships, you get it and then you have 10 calendar days to get it checked out. if theres issues that werent disclosed you contact ajbrokers support and they handle the refund or negotiation

I just went through this last month. The way it works is the funds are held in escrow until your 10 day inspection window closes. So if you find something major you email office@ajbrokers.com with photos and documentation. They were pretty good about it but yeah the initial emails could be clearer imo

been buying cars this way since 2021.. heres the deal: once the car arrives you inspect it yourself or hire a mechanic (which i always recommend). if everythings good you do nothing and after 10 days the seller gets paid. if theres problems you document everything and notify them within those 10 days. simple as that

exactly. I'm a mechanic and I've inspected probably 6 or 7 cars from AJBrokers for clients. The 10 day window is plenty if you schedule the inspection same day or next day after delivery. Most issues are caught in first 2 days anyway

I had a small issue with paint chips that weren't mentioned in listing. Called undefined and they helped negotiate a partial refund with the seller. took about 4 days to sort out but stayed within the 10 day window no problem

my only complaint is the emails they send are kinda vague about the process. like they tell you that you have inspection period but dont really explain step by step what to do if you find something. would be nice if they had like a checklist or something

@DaveKar thats fair feedback. i remember being confused my first time too back in 2021. now ive done it 3 times and its second nature but yeah better onboarding emails would help new buyers alot

one tip - take LOTS of photos when you first get the car. like before you even start it. that way if theres any dispute you have timestamped evidence. learned that the hard way on a different platform not AJ Brokers but still good practice

The inspection period saved me once. Got a BMW and found transmission was slipping slightly which wasnt disclosed. Contacted office@ajbrokers.com with video proof and they got me a $1800 refund to cover the repair. Seller wasnt happy but thats what the inspection period is for

I think the 10 day thing is generous honestly. Most issues are obvious within first day or two. The only thing that could be better is maybe a video call option with their team to walk through the process for first timers

UPDATE: got the car yesterday and had my mechanic look at it this morning. Everything checks out perfectly, actually in better shape than the photos showed. The whole inspection period thing makes sense now that ive gone through it. Wish the initial emails from AJ Brokers were more detailed but the process itself works fine
